Information Volunteers Need to Know

If you are arriving before Monday, August 25th, and would like to help, please leave a message for Peggy Rae Sapienza at the Crown Plaza. Alternatively you can find like minded folks who have already located where work is being done and ask them where.....

Starting on Monday, August 25th please come to Volunteers in the Grenadier Room in the Crown Plaza. Volunteers will also have an outpost near Registration during Set-Up. We expect Volunteers to be open on Monday and Tuesday from noon through 7:00 p.m. Regular hours during the run of Torcon 3, for the Volunteers Office, will be 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, help with Set-Up is needed in the Convention Center from 10:00 a.m. until evening. The Convention Center will also be available for Set-Up after 8:00 a.m. on Thursday.

If you are able to help during Tear-Down on September 1st and 2nd (Monday and Tuesday), it would be wonderful!

Numerous and varied Volunteer prizes have been donated. Come by the Volunteer Office to look at the list. Prizes will be randomly drawn from among the Release Forms which Volunteers have completed. Everyone working on Set Up and Tear-Down are eligible for prizes on Set Up and Tear-Down days. We hope that the newsletter will print the names of the winners, however, check in the Volunteer Office to determine if you have won a prize.

Additional prizes will be awarded during the Volunteer Thank You Party on Monday evening in the Grenadier Room in the Crown Plaza. This party is for everyone who worked on Torcon 3.

If you have not been contacted by a Torcon 3 Department but would like to work, please let one of the Staff in the Grenadier know when you can help.

All Volunteers are invited to go to the Staff Lounge when they need a break from working. The Staff Lounge is located in the Oakville Room of the Crown Plaza.

The Torcon 3 Program may be viewed via the Torcon web site of http://www.torcon3.on.ca/programming

Volunteers who work for at least ten hours are eligible for a complimentary T-Shirt (with Kelly Freas’ Angel design or Kelly’s Little Green Man behind the Key Hole).

Folks who work at least thirty hours are eligible for reimbursement of their membership cost after Torcon 3, assuming the Worldcon is financially able to do so.

If you need to contact volunteers, please use the email address volunteers@torcon3.on.ca.

Thank you for volunteering!
