Actually, since Larry didn't specifically say it, it was the studios who paid ConJosé for the privilege to have Patrick Stewart promote his two upcoming movies to a target audience. None of the program participants are paid to appear at Worldcons. As a matter of fact, they usually pay for their own memberships as well. The GoHs are the only ones who have their expenses paid for.
